Advent and Christmas 2025 at Holy Trinity with St John's

TJOC ACNY-Cover-Red

We're looking forward to welcoming you to our joy-filled, special services for Advent and Christmas. Whether you find your joy in noise, activity and excitement, or in peace, stillness and reflection, we have a service for you. And through music and readings, prayers and silence, candles and contemplation, creativity and fun, we aim in our worship to draw closer to Jesus, the source of our joy.

We welcome children to all our services, but some are designed especially for families with young children in mind.

Messy Christingle - Sunday November 30th, 3:00 - 5:00pm

2025 Messy Christingle poster

We begin our celebration on Advent Sunday with our Messy Christingle service. Through a range of crafts and activities - biscuit icing, candle-making, star decorations and, of course, constructing our own Christingles - we will reflect on Jesus, the Light of the World coming to bring us joy, and take a moment for wonder and quiet reflection as the candles are lit.

Instant Nativity - Sunday 21st December, 10.30am - 12 noon

2025-12-21 Nativity

For our intergenerational service, Connect, in December, we will be creating an instant nativity, which all of us will join in as different characters in the story. Come to be part of the fun, make your own headband, and find out about the Amazing Advent-ure that is the Christmas story. Come from 10.15am for breakfast... the service begins at 10.30am.

Carols by Candlelight - Sunday 21st December, 5:00 - 7:00pm

2025-12-21 Carol Service

For many of us, Christmas properly begins with the Carol Service. Come and join us at our St John's Site at 5pm on Sunday 21st to sing familiar carols and to hear again the words of the Christmas story. Coffee and tea, mulled wine and mince pies will be served after the service.

Crib Service - Wednesday 24th December, 3:00 - 4:30pm

2025-12-24 Crib

This will be a short, interactive service designed for families with young children, excited for Christmas Day. We will retell the Christmas story with songs, singing and the opportunity for children and adults to dress up as their favourite character and place themselves in the story. No need to buy or make a costume - we have plenty! Tea, coffee, soft drinks and mince pies will be served after the service.

Midnight Communion - Wednesday 24th December, 11pm - 12.15am

2025-12-24 Midnight

If you've had a busy Christmas Eve, or indeed a busy December, and are looking for a space for stillness and quiet, this is the service for you. A calm, reflective space, with traditional carols, readings and, after the lighting of the Christmas candle, the opportunity to celebrate together the First Communion of Christmas.

Christmas Day Celebration - Thursday 25th December, 10:30 - 11:30am

2025-12-25 Christmas Day

Our Christmas Day celebration is an All Age service of Holy Communion suitable for all the family. There will be familiar carols and readings, a short talk, and the opportunity to celebrate Communion together. And there may well be a special surprise item...

Watchnight Service - Wednesday 31st December 2025, 11:30pm - 12:30am

2025-12-31 Watchnight

See in the New Year with worship, praise, thanksgiving and prayer reflecting the different cultures and communities who make up HTSJ.

Epiphany Celebration - Sunday 4th January 2026, 8am and 10:30am

2026-01-04 Epiphany

We will be celebrating Epiphany, the coming of the Wise Men to bring their gifts to Jesus, in our services on Sunday 4th January.

Planning your Visit

New to Church?

If you're coming to Holy Trinity with St John's for the first time, this information will help you know what to expect.

Where and When?

Our 8am service is at our Holy Trinity Site (location details here).

Our 10:30am service is at our St John's Site (location details here).

For more information about our different Sunday services, please click here.

What about my children?

We actively welcome families with children of all ages. If your child is a baby or a toddler, they will remain with you for the duration of the service. A welcomer will give you a Toddler Bag as you come in - these contain a variety of toys and games to entertain your child. We are aware that it can be very hard for a toddler to remain in their seat throughout the service. If your child is getting restless, there is space on the carpeted area at the back where they can move about - and don't worry at all if they make a noise!
